City parks renewal funding insufficient says councillor

Veteran city councillor Rick Chiarelli says that city funding for replacing playground equipment is insufficient, and calls on the city to address this before city council finalizes the budget on March 11th .

In his ward alone, eight parks were slated for lifecycle renewal of playground structures in 2015 and 2016, but the work has been postponed. “You’re going to get kids who actually never get to play in the park because their equipment won’t be there,” he said.
