Since last fall, the GACA Planning Committee has met once with city officials and Taggart. At that meeting, the City and Taggart reiterated the details and plans presented at the last meeting with the community.
In the meantime, work goes on behind the scenes with engineers and site planners to prepare the Site Plan Application, which is required before excavation can begin. It is a slow process.
On June 6th, Taggart will request permission from the Committee of Adjustment to sever the existing Fitzsimmons building from the future building’s site. (The new building site is the big parking lot bordering on Cambridge St South and Clemow and Carling avenues.)
A variance will also be requested to sever the driveway leading from Bronson Avenue from the existing building to the new building lot. This will allow service vehicles (garbage, delivery, moving etc.) to access the new building, instead of using Clemow Avenue as contemplated in the original plan.
The latest word is that construction is unlikely to begin in 2018.
GACA Planning Committee members will attend the Committee of Adjustment meeting on Wednesday, June 6th at Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive, Nepean, at 1:00 pm. This meeting is open to all residents who wish to attend.
