The John Howard Society (JHS) 6-storey, 40-unit supportive housing residence received site plan approval on September 2nd. So far, the JHS has received a permit to remove the trees, which it has largely done this past week, but has not yet received a building permit. The JHS hopes to start construction as soon as that is received – likely in the coming weeks.
To speed up construction time, and to minimize the amount of construction actually occurring in the neighbourhood, the JHS plans to build the tower off-site in a modular process. The JHS hopes to achieve occupancy in fall 2021.
