Local street closures during the Mid-Town Bridges Project

As an update to our newsletter from earlier this month, we have learned that the Ontario Ministry of Transportation staging area at Orangeville is larger than had been previously communicated to us. The planned closures are:

  • Orangeville: between Rochester and Lebreton (as opposed to Booth) from Monday, July 5th, 2021 until November 1st, 2025.
  • Raymond: between Rochester and Booth from Monday, July 5th, 2021 until October 30th, 2022.

The road closures on Orangeville will continue until the entrance of the Natural Resources Canada parking lot. Residents on Lebreton and Orangeville will still be able to access their homes. However, we will no longer be able to access our neighbourhood from Booth/Orangeville from the west, making Daniel McCann the only entry point. We expect this to have spillover effects into the community, particularly on Henry but also possibly on Plymouth Street, especially as traffic resumes to pre-COVID levels over the next few years. We are working with the City and the Councillor’s office to try to mitigate this, but it is a challenging situation.

Also of note, Booth and Rochester Streets will be reduced to one lane from July 5th to November 30th, 2021 in the staging areas.
