Construction Continues at 289 Carling Ave

As much of the neighbourhood can hear – and feel – work continues at the John Howard Society site. The project has been designated “essential”, so it is allowed to continue, despite COVID-19 construction limitations imposed by the province.

There remains a deal of excavation left to do before the neighbourhood returns to some semblance of peace. It’s expected that the excavation work will continue until mid-February. On the upside, there will be some days when they will just be loading trucks to move the rocks away, and will not be jackhammering.

From that point on, however, the work is likely to be much less disruptive to the neighbourhood. The next steps will include pouring the concrete foundation/parking garage and constructing the podium, before the relatively quick process of assembling the tower using modules built off-site. The site is expected to be finished in December 2021, if all goes according to plan.
