We are working to improve neighbourhood safety in response to concerns about disruption, public drug use and dealing, and other safety-related incidents.

ANCHOR

One important result is the expansion of Ottawa’s Alternate Neighbourhood Crisis Response (ANCHOR) into the Glebe Annex.

ANCHOR provides a 24/7, non-police response to non-violent mental health and substance use crises. Trained two-person teams offer de-escalation, well-being checks and connections to follow-up care and community services. Residents are encouraged to call 211 when someone appears distressed but not dangerous and can expect follow-up that supports both community safety and compassionate care. John Howard Society

Neighbours have experienced more frequent incidents related to the conduct of some individuals associated with the site. In response, the John Howard Society has formed a small working group with local residents, our Ottawa Police community officer, and representatives from Councillor Menard’s office as well as the ANCHOR program to identify and implement concrete measures to address community concerns. The group is in its early stages, and we hope to share progress in the coming months.

New Community Police Officer

In December 2025, the Glebe Annex was assigned a new community police officer, Constable Daniel Sinclair (sinclaird@ottawapolice.ca). These reports are critical to the continued collection and tracking of data, as well as the effective allocation of police resources.
