Condolences on the passing of Charles Murphy

On Sunday, September 27, 2015, Charles, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many passed away suddenly at his home at the age of 71. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Susan and his children Tim and Leslie (Aaron). Charles will also be remembered by his granddaughter, Olivia. Born in Ottawa, Charles was a proud, established and respected Lawyer. He attended St. Patrick’s College and graduated in 1968 with his B.A. He then continued on to the University of Ottawa and graduated in 1972 with his LL.B. Charles decided to further his education by studying abroad and graduating from The University of London with his LL.M. in 1975.

Charles began his career as a lawyer when he joined the law firm Hewitt, Hewitt, Nesbitt, Reid in 1975. Charles focused his career on litigation with an emphasis on insurance and personal injury litigation. Charles was a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He was also an active member of the community. Charles was a former Director and Honorary Counsel for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa-Carleton, Director of the Ottawa Boys Club Foundation and a Director of the Medical Friends of Peru. After an extremely successful career, Charles retired from Hewitt, Hewitt, Nesbitt, Reid in 2011. Charles was a well- cultured gentleman who had many passions in life. He lived life to the fullest and revelled in the endless possibilities that many of us allow to pass us by. His main passion in life other than his beautiful wife, was to travel. He had been all over the world and had the opportunity to experience some of life’s most incredible things.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St. (at O’Connor), on Thursday, October 1 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 194 Fourth Avenue on Friday, October 2 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be greatly appreciated.

Dad, you were loved by many and will be missed by all.
